Psychotherapy for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse

Psychotherapy will assist an individual to deal with difficulties related to body issues, romantic relationships, emotional regulation, and self-confidence issues.  The compassionate therapy provided will permit one to examine coping mechanisms created in childhood for protection and to guard against overwhelming helplessness.  When memories are too distressing they can be repressed or hidden from one’s awareness although they can still strongly influence one’s thinking and behaviours.  An example is over-reacting emotionally in certain circumstances.  Another example is avoidance behaviours. One needs to relearn what it is to feel safe again.
